Deaths by decade and age group

The table shows deaths for each decade, for each age group from 0-10 to >80, and the average age at death. The first full decade from 1871-1880 has an average age at death of 25 for females and 17 for males.		These figures are very much affected by heavy infant mortality, about half the deaths were children who died below the age of 3, if these deaths are excluded the average age at death of females would be 53 and of males 36.
